Overview

Chris Bell will discuss recent research on the scale of fuel production and supply infrastructure required to supply first mover green shipping corridors and the implications for ports.

Malou Wagner will discuss the requirements for port infrastructure to support fixed & floating offshore wind projects in the construction phase, with an emphasis on foundation installation.

Martin Mannion will discuss the requirements for port infrastructure to support fixed & floating offshore wind projects, with an emphasis on floating offshore wind

Jamie Holmes will outline some of the key potential shipping and navigation risk and impacts between Floating offshore wind (FLOW) and fixed foundation projects, with reference to experiences on some of the world’s first FLOW projects and will also look ahead at some of the key challenges that lie ahead as FLOW projects make the jump in scale from demonstration (typically <100MW) to commercial scale.

Chris Bell

Chris is a chartered naval architect and maritime advisory consultant in Arup’s London maritime team. He supports commercial, government and non-profit clients with policy, regulatory and technical advice to further the decarbonisation of the maritime industry.

His advisory work is underpinned by a technical background in the design and build of a range of vessel types, retrofit of innovative technologies, and concept development for alternative fuelled ships and bunkering systems. Chris is currently supporting the development of several green shipping corridor initiatives globally.

Malou Wagner works as Commercial Manager – Offshore Heavy Lifting at Boskalis headquarters in Papendrecht, The Netherlands with a focus on offshore wind for UK and Ireland. The Business Unit Offshore Heavy Lifting is responsible for all fixed Foundation T&I contracts within Boskalis.

Malou Wagner is a master of science in Naval Architecture from Delft University of Technology. In previous commercial roles within Boskalis and Dockwise Malou was mainly involved with Heavy Marine Transport and maintaining client relationships with global energy majors, just as fabricators and contractors. She held various engineering and commercial positions, amongst which a commercial position in the Houston office.

He is an independent port consultant, working through Mannion Marine Limited.

Martin provides expert opinions/reports, technical and commercial management of and innovative solutions for port and maritime developments, master planning, port optimisation, due diligence, feasibility, design, analysis, reviews of port facilities.

Jamie Holmes

Jamie Holmes is a Director at NASH Maritime, a specialist shipping, navigation and maritime risk consultancy. Jamie has over 15 years’ experience in site selection, feasibility studies, design, consenting and operation of maritime infrastructure and offshore energy projects.

Jamie has worked on a number of key renewable energy projects worldwide including some of the first floating offshore wind (FLOW) projects in the UK.
