Overview

Engineers have a unique opportunity to reshape our built environment into climate-resilient, biodiverse and people-centred spaces.

Taking notes from award-winning projects, the session will delve into lessons learned from Kingsway in Stretford, which involved the repurposing of dual carriageway into transformative public realm; Climate Innovation District in Leeds, one of the UK’s largest sustainable projects and a car-free neighbourhood; and Mayfield Park in Manchester, the city’s first central park in over a century.

This webinar will explore how adopting a system thinking approach can deliver measurable positive impacts, creating lasting value for communities while advancing sustainable development goals. It will look at designs that have freed up space for active travel provision, sustainable urban drainage and green public realm, and the results this has delivered for people and place.
