Overview

This jointly hosted online event with ICE NI and NIGG will discuss the design, project management and construction of St Patrick’s Link Road, Ballymena. This £6M scheme involves the construction of approximately 2.4km of new single carriageway road through the former St Patricks Barracks site to facilitate future development of the site and the surrounding area.

Department for Infrastructure and their partner Amey Consulting have taken the initial planning approved design and developed it to tender and construction stage. FP McCann were appointed after a successful tender to construct the scheme which involves constructing earth embankments over soft soils, sheet pile retaining wall, large diameter culvert structures and a landscaped compensatory storage area.

This is one of the first contracts in Northern Ireland to employ the Points Based Social Value model and key environmental indicators listed as part of the project sustainability requirements.
