Overview

This presentation will look at how rockfall events along at a Sandstone rock cutting on the SPC8 line in Derbyshire, locally named as Swainsley Cutting, led to the rapid delivery of a containment netting solution to protect railway infrastructure.

Network Rail, QTS and Fairhurst worked together taking an open collaborative approach to inspect, appraise, design and deliver a rock netting containment solution, consisting of 3,200m2 of high tensile active netting and 580 grouted anchors. The project was delivered in 9 weeks from initial inspection to verification of construction.
