Overview

As a civil engineer in West Coast USA and Canada (or the wider Americas region), facing the challenges of the 21st century, what can you change to be part of the solution to improve productivity, effectiveness and efficiency?

ICE President Ed McCann invites ICE members in the Americas (West Coast) region to join an online meeting to discuss the themes of his 2021/22 presidency, outlined in his film, How to thrive in the 21st Century.

Ed will share his experiences, gained from working on hundreds of projects in 20 countries around the world, on why improving resourcefulness in the infrastructure industry is crucial to address the key challenges of the 21st century.

In the face of a climate emergency, he’ll explain how civil engineers must deliver meaningful benefits to society and how to radically improve our productivity through increased effectiveness, without creating unnecessary waste or harm.

The informal event is an opportunity for members in West Coast USA and Canada, and the wider Americas region, to put their questions directly to the President and raise concerns about how to improve their creativity and delivery capability. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how they can develop their own performance in this field.

Julian Lineham, ICE Council Member for the Americas, will be chairing the discussion.

This event is the first of two online sessions with the President which focus on the Americas, with the second event being held on 11 May 2022. While the two events are related, each is a standalone event, and they have been scheduled to accommodate the East and West Coast time zones.
