Join the ICE Early Careers Network West Midlands to hear from Gareth Ellis, an aspiring chartered engineer, as he shares his experiences on the journey to chartership. Gareth will focus on attribute 2 technical and practical application of engineering, offering valuable perspectives and practical advice for those working towards professional qualification.

Following the presentation, ateendees will take part in an Initial Professional Development (IPD) activity. Working in small teams to analise a piece of work to identify relavent attributes, then come together to compare and discuss with the group. 

To conclude the event there will be time for a Q&A with Gareth, giving you a chance to ask questions to gain further insight into the chartership process.

Gareth Ellis

Gareth is a lineside civil engineer with over three years of experience specialising in rail civils design. After beginning his career as a graduate in highways engineering, he transitioned to rail civil engineering, leveraging his MEng in Civil Engineering from Loughborough University, which included a valuable sandwich year.

In his current role, Gareth has been heavily involved in a significant UK infrastructure project, focusing on the design and delivery of critical assets such as signal renewals, signalling power upgrades, access points, and signal gantry structures. His work demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing the nation's rail systems through innovative design solutions.
