The Glendoe Hydro Electric project was the last major hydro scheme constructed in the UK and for the preceding three decades. Shortly after opening there was a catastrophic collapse in the headrace tunnel and extensive remedial works were required to recover the scheme. Andy was closely involved with events after the collapse.
In this presentation he will discuss the collapse, the mechanisms involved, some lessons learned and describe the recovery project. This talk is set against the back-drop of a potential renaissance of pumped storage hydro in Scotland.
The talk will outline the necessary qualifications for becoming a Fellow of ICE. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions at the end of the presentation.
ICE invites you to our online Knowledge Café. This event is designed for our regional and International members, as well as those who were unable to attend our first Knowledge Café event in London.
