Overview

Join us for an engaging presentation on the C1 Align Design and Construction Contract, a key component of the High Speed 2 (HS2) project.

Spanning 21.6 km through the Chiltern Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), this contract includes the design and construction of two remarkable engineering feats: the Chiltern Tunnel, the longest tunnel on the HS2 route, and the Colne Valley Viaduct, an architectural signature structure.

Discover how Align JV, a consortium of Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine, and Volker Fitzpatrick, tackled complex design and construction challenges.

Learn about the innovative solutions implemented to minimize environmental impacts, such as the reuse of excavated material, cutting-edge tunnelling techniques with tunnel boring machines (TBMs), and the meticulous construction of the viaduct over the scenic Colne Valley lakes.
