The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has recently introduced its updated Code of Professional Conduct, reflecting the evolving responsibilities of civil engineers and addressing emerging challenges facing the profession, including the rise of artificial intelligence, sustainability, inclusion, and ethical decision-making.
This awareness session will provide ICE members across the MENA region and beyond with an overview of the revised code, explaining the key changes and what they mean in practice.
The updated code strengthens expectations around professional integrity, accountability, environmental responsibility, fairness, inclusion, and the ethical use of emerging technologies. It also provides clearer guidance for members on maintaining the high standards of conduct expected by the institution and the wider public.
The session will explore the nine fundamental principles that all ICE members are required to follow, regardless of membership grade, role, or location, and will highlight the importance of ethical and professional behaviours in safeguarding the reputation of both the engineering profession and the institution.
Members are encouraged to attend to better understand how the revised Code of Professional Conduct applies to their day-to-day work, supports their professional development, and helps ensure engineering continues to serve the public good in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.
The session will conclude with a Q&A session, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the updated Code of Professional Conduct.
