Raymond Tang, a professional engineer with over 40 years of experience in Hong Kong's construction industry, will share his extensive career journey and insights with young engineers and graduates. Having worked across various sectors including the government, the Airport Authority, consultancy firms and contractors, Raymond brings a comprehensive perspective on the diverse pathways and opportunities within the civil engineering profession.
Drawing on his involvement in major infrastructure and public works projects including building facilities, drainage schemes, transport and highways projects, civil works and airport development, Tang will discuss the evolution of Hong Kong's construction industry and the challenges faced throughout his career. His recent experience as a resident site staff in the Central Kowloon Route project, which opened in December 2025, provides contemporary insights into current industry practices.
The seminar will explore career development strategies, the importance of continuous learning, and how young engineers can navigate their professional journey effectively. Raymond will share practical advice on working across different sectors, building professional networks, and contributing to sustainable design and construction practices. As the current career adviser for ICE HKA and a part-time lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, he understands the challenges facing today's engineering graduates. This seminar offers valuable career guidance for construction professionals and engineering students seeking to understand the practical realities of the construction industry and develop successful career strategies.
