Overview

Singapore’s rail network relies heavily on underground infrastructure. Four MRT lines already run fully underground, and the Cross Island Line will add another. The condition of these tunnels directly affects the millions of commuters who use them every day.

As tunnels age, a “fix-when-fail” approach to maintenance drives up lifecycle costs and operational risk. This talk presents tunnel maintenance as a closed loop, from baseline inspection through to structural renewal. Mr Ted Tang will present 3D tunnel scanning work in Singapore, which gives an accurate baseline of tunnel condition. Mr Jin Jiawei will then share his experience installing steel rings for structural rectification. The session ends with a Q&A.
