Overview

As we celebrate 200 years of the modern Railway, we explore how the railways of the future could continue to positively support and create communities, and those who live in them.

Rail travel makes a significant contribution to improved connectivity between regions, and the benefits that this brings.

This online event brings together key leaders in rail, from around the world, to discuss the Future of Rail, and how railways can continue connecting cities through smarter, more sustainable railway transport systems.

Our key speakers will share their views on how rail can continue to create communities and connect people.

  1. Alex Batey: Director Nichols Group
  2. Mark Wild: CEO, HS2 - UK
  3. David Hughes: CEO, East West Rail - UK
  4. Sanjeev Gupta: Associated Vice President & Group Sector Head-Transportation, Tata Consulting Engineers Limited – India
  5. Joanne Griffiths: Trans Pennine Upgrade Programme Director - UK

Alex Batey will lead a discussion with our Panelists on how railways can contribute to economic growth, environment preservation, and improved quality of life to communities.

  • How can intercity rail be a powerful enabler of economic growth, connecting people to opportunities, and places to investment?
  • How do we plan for future resilience to new infrastructure, in the context of a changing climate?
  •  How do we better integrate intercity rail into our broader urban mobility networks — creating seamless, people-focused journeys?

This debate will discuss how the Future of Rail will contribute toward improved connectivity, and more sustainable forms of transport.

This event is part of a series of 2 global events which will explore the Future of Rail with industry leaders.
