Overview

The Wrexham Gateway regeneration project is a bold, city‑shaping programme that will redefine one of the city’s most important arrival points.

With over £100 million of investment already secured, the scheme brings together a new transport hub, high‑quality public spaces, modern business accommodation, and major enhancements to the Wrexham AFC’s Racecourse Football Stadium to create a vibrant and welcoming gateway into Wrexham.

This ambitious, partnership‑led initiative marks a new era of growth, connectivity, and confidence for the city.

To the west of the rail line, an iconic new Kop stand is being delivered for Wrexham AFC, complemented by new student accommodation and an enhanced public realm.

These improvements will restore Wrexham’s ability to host international football fixtures and broaden the stadium’s capacity for major sporting events and concerts.

To the east of the rail line the project will deliver a new Grade A office building for up to 600 people, a multi‑modal transport hub integrating public transport and active travel.

Benefitting from this new infrastructure but separate from this funding bid, will be a new brewery with associated visitor attractions including a tap room, restaurant, visitor centre, and shop.

These elements will all sit within a high‑quality, modern public realm featuring improved wayfinding and visitor information, creating a cohesive and welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Alistair Aldridge, the project manager responsible, will talk through the design aspiration and challenges to delivery that have been overcome to deliver this transformational scheme.
