Jamie Mackintosh

I received a first class BEng (Honours) degree in civil engineering at UHI in Inverness. I completed the course as a graduate apprentice whilst working full time for HGA consulting engineers, also based in Inverness.

It is a great honour to be awarded the ICE student prize and a proud moment to receive the award in front of my classmates and family at graduation. During the time I was studying, I would stay in the office after work for a couple of hours most nights which was exhausting at the time.

To get the results I had hoped for and now on top of that to be recognised with this prize makes it all worth while. To get this sort of recognition at the start of my career as an engineer gives me a great deal of confidence going forward and has made me excited for what the future holds.
