The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and Thomas Telford Ltd. (TTL) maintain data on all members. We also maintain data on non-members who use our services.

This will be used confidentially for normal purposes, including subscription and donation collection, mailing of publications, contract fulfilment when purchasing TTL products and services and notification of conferences and events.

Overseas members may have their data transferred to International Country representatives for administration of local events in their country of residence.

Member data will also be shared with the ICE Benevolent Fund.

Personal data relating to ICE membership may be stored securely in perpetuity for historical purposes. Personal data relating to non-members and/or TTL customers will only be held for as long as needed to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected.

Declaration

You're about to complete your application to be an Associate Member of ICE. Before you do, we need to make you aware of some important information.

Unspent convictions

No person with an unspent conviction relating to a Serious Criminal Offence* will be admitted to any grade of membership unless there are special circumstances that show beyond reasonable doubt that the person is a fit and proper person to be admitted to membership of the Institution.

* "Serious Criminal Offence" means an offence involving dishonesty or deception or any offence punishable by a Court of competent jurisdiction by a term of imprisonment of 12 months or more (whether or not any custodial sentence is in fact imposed).

Data protection

ICE maintains data on members, including addresses, professional history and interests where notified. This will be used confidentially for normal purposes, including subscription collection, mailing of publications, and notification of conferences and meetings.

Members will also receive information from our trading company Thomas Telford Ltd. on publications, training and other services which we believe they will be interested in. Where possible information supplied through questionnaires etc. will be used to focus accurately on each member's likely interests.

Data may be confidentially processed by ICE's agents as part of these activities. In particular, labels with member's names and addresses are sent to local association and country representatives in order to distribute information.

Occasional targeted mailings are undertaken on behalf of carefully screened third parties for promotional purposes.

Discounted membership

If you have been provided with a promotional discount code which will entitle you to free or half price Associate Member subscription, please enter this below.

This applies to those gaining the NEC Project Management accreditation and participants at certain policy events.

Important undertaking

I apply for admission as an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

I promise that in the event of my admission I will be governed by the Royal Charter, By-laws, Regulations and Rules of the Institution and I will accept as final and binding the decisions of the Council.

I also promise to promote the object of the Institution to foster and promote the art and science of civil engineering and to attend its meetings as often as I conveniently can.
