The 2024 North West Civil Engineering Awards ceremony is nearly here.

All winners will be announced live on the night at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on 02 May 2024.

Nushma Juwaheer

Nushma Juwaheer is the current ICE North West chair and a senior structural engineer at Mott MacDonald.

Nushma has been a member of the ICE for over a decade and has previously held several active committee roles alongside volunteering as a STEM ambassador.

Passionate about diversity and promoting civil and structural engineering to children and young adults, Nushma was a UK Construction Week (UKCW) 2019 Role Model and is currently an Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) Young Members Panel member.

Yuli Doulala-Rigby

Yuli is the chief civil engineer for Tensar International, which is globally renowned for inventing polymeric soil reinforcing and stabilising geogrids.

After ten years working in Hong Kong as a geotechnical engineer, she returned to the UK and joined Tensar, maintaining overall responsibility of their Eastern Hemisphere Design Team for more than a decade.

More recently, whilst still involved in delivering training, project risk management and high-level advice on scheme feasibility studies, she has diverted her focus largely towards business development and educating the industry globally on the benefits of geosynthetics in construction.

Stephen O'Malley

Stephen O’Malley is the chief executive of Civic Engineers. He has a passion for and a belief in the importance of public realm, water and place making, using design techniques and changing how people respond and engage with spaces.

Stephen became a Fellow of the ICE in 2013 and a member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) in 2014. Stephen is the former chair of the ICE North West.

Kit Wolverson

Kit Wolverson is a civil engineer in the bridges team at Mott MacDonald, based in Manchester. She has worked on a variety of projects and was a design manager in Northern Powerhouse Rail and a designer on HS2. Kit is active within the ICE North West and is currently junior vice chair. She previously led the region's Graduates and Students committee. She was awarded the ICE North West Rising Star in 2022.

Lewis Brimmell

Lewis Brimmell is an associate at Vectos and a chartered highways design engineer. As a chartered highways design engineer, he has worked on schemes for critical national highway infrastructure in multiple countries as well as local highway approval schemes. He is currently the ICE North West senior vice chair and a Chartered Member (CEng MICE) of the ICE.

Steve Hesketh

Steve Hesketh is engineering director at MGF and a founding member and director of the Temporary Works Forum (TWf). Throughout his career, Steve has focused on temporary works equipment design, manufacture and project/scheme design.

Steve is the former chairman of the Construction Plant-Hire Association’s Shoring Technology Interest Group and former UK expert representing BSI on the CEN TC53 Working Group looking at standardising European product standards for temporary works equipment.

He is involved with several universities where he provides guest lectures and promotes stronger links with the industry. Steve is an ICE Fellow.
