Fellowships are offered to those that have made a substantial contribution to and achieved a well-recognised reputation in the field of civil engineering.
The two engineers were congratulated at a reception at the British High Commission by Tim Khan, Managing Director of Medway Consultancy Services, who is the ICE Representative in Bangladesh and Sir Simon McDonald, Permanent Under-Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Sir Simon is in Bangladesh to convene the first Bangladesh-UK Strategic Dialogue. Representatives of Mott MacDonald, Rendel Ltd, HR Wallingford, MDM Architects and DP Rail were also present to participate in the event.
British High Commissioner Alison Blake said:
'I'm delighted that we have been able to celebrate the achievements of General Masud and Professor Amin today. Their recognition by the Institution of Civil Engineers, a globally leading body in civil engineering is testimony to the important links between British and Bangladeshi engineering professionals. I am certain this is a reflection of the collaboration between our engineers and designers in the years to come.'
Mr Tim Khan, ICE Representative in Bangladesh said:
'We last celebrated a similar event in 1999 here at the British High Commission. I am absolutely delighted that we have two more Bangladeshi engineers who have joined the ranks of eminent engineers recognised by the ICE. For this rare and outstanding achievement I offer my sincere congratulations to General Masud and Professor Amin. I look forward to their continued support and contribution to civil engineering and to act as ambassadors in promoting the ICE in Bangladesh.'
