Ed McCann will take over the ICE Presidency from Rachel Skinner for the 2021-22 session, ICE Council has confirmed.
Ed McCann, current ICE Senior Vice President, has been officially elected as the next President by ICE Council and will succeed Rachel Skinner in November 2021.
McCann was initially put forward as a potential candidate for the 2021/22 Presidency by the Nomination Committee in January 2020 and confirmed by Council in April 2020. Council has now formally elected him to serve for the session.
Ed McCann is Senior Director at Expedition and Useful Simple Trust. He initially joined Expedition Engineering in 2002 where he has been the Project Director for many projects including the multi award winning Infinity Bridge and the Olympic 2012 Velodrome. Ed was instrumental in the growth and development of Expedition from a “back bedroom start-up” to Building Magazine’s Engineering Consultant of the Year in 2012. In 2009, Ed co-founded the Useful Simple Trust and gifted his shareholding in Expedition to the Trust for the benefit of the employees.
Ed has been actively involved in design education since 1999. He is a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor of Innovation at Strathclyde University. Ed lectures widely and has also made some 35 television programs on civil engineering.
