Joe Baker was awarded 2017 Student Prize for outstanding achievement on the BSc/BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering course. ICE makes the award to nominated students from every accredited degree course.

Civil Engineering Technician Jose Manuel Hermosilla was awarded Best Technician Student Award for "excellent course work, perseverance and enthusiasm."

The Best Technician Student Award celebrates exceptional young civil engineers in the East of England, who are currently working towards an accredited HND/HNC or Foundation Degree in civil engineering. The award is given for engineering talent, high standard of coursework and strong exam performance. Course leaders or appropriate members of staff can nominate students for the 2018 award in August and September.

Joe and Jose were nominated by their tutors and each received £250 and a Certificate of Merit. Jose also keeps the Best Technician Student Award shield for a year. Joe received his award from Dr Esther Norton, Principal Lecturer in Civil Engineering whilst Jose was presented with his award by ICE East of England Regional Director Glen Owen.
