The ICE has launched a new app designed to act as “an essential careers portal for civil engineering and infrastructure students”, as Jo Horton, ICE chief membership officer, has said.
ICE Careers aims to bridge the gap between the technical knowledge gained at university and students’ understanding of the opportunities available within the industry.
The app is free to download for iOS and Android devices.
ICE Student Members can log in to access additional features and personalised content. Student membership of the ICE is free.
Helping students get career ready
The app provides a modern, interactive digital experience, helping students explore career paths, enhance their studies and prepare for life after graduation.
Students can access a comprehensive careers guide, featuring industry insights, sector overviews, role profiles and career pathways.
They can also explore an employer directory and real-world case studies showcasing the people and projects shaping the built environment today.
Supporting progress to professional qualification
A key feature of the app is its professional development tracker.
It allows students to build professional development records, drawing on learning activities outside of their studies and any work experience they gain.
This gives students a head start on their journey to becoming professionally qualified engineers.
Helping students develop the skills to succeed
“Whether you're exploring your future options, researching potential employers, or starting your journey towards professional qualification, the app provides practical tools, expert guidance and real-world insights to support your development,” Jo added.
“Through ICE Careers, we're helping students develop the skills and professional mindset they need to succeed in their careers and support the delivery of the infrastructure our communities will depend on in the future."
The app also brings together a range of student-focused ICE benefits, including events and ICE Rewards offers.
It provides a single platform to help students engage with the institution and build the foundations for a successful career in infrastructure and civil engineering.
