Held annually, the awards showcase the work done by civil engineers from across the region over the past two years.
The ICE has revealed the shortlist of innovative projects that will be recognised at this year's Robert Stephenson Awards.
Fourteen engineering projects, including a new conservation centre, major interchange, viaduct refurbishment and reservoir siphon were shortlisted across three categories:
- Large Category Award: for projects with a total cost in excess of £5 million
- Medium Category Award: for projects costing between £1 million and £5 million
- Small Category Award: for projects costing less than £1 million
The awards are held every year to showcase the outstanding work done by civil engineers from across North East England over the past two years.

- Bishopton Road Footbridge

- Sustainable Infrastructure in Hartlepool
- Whitburn Conservation Centre
Individual Awards
Outstanding individuals will also be recognised in the following categories:
- Sustainability Champion Award (new for 2024), sponsored by Project Groundwater Northumbria
- Fairness, Inclusion and Respect Award (new for 2024), sponsored by Waterman Aspen
- STEM Ambassador of the Year Award
The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle on 7 March.
