Starting from January 2025 the ICE is rolling out a refreshed programme of events to support candidates on their journey to professional qualification, as well as those helping to mentor them.

The improved programme focuses on providing consistent, high-quality support that can be accessed worldwide.

Global and local support options are available. The global series, delivered entirely online, provides a clear, consistent roadmap for candidates to follow, wherever they are based.

Additionally, a variety of bespoke local support – available online and in-person – is designed to support individuals on their final steps to professional qualification.

Step-by-step progress

The ICE programme includes a series of events that align with key application deadlines.

This gives candidates plenty of opportunity to meet their goals without delay.

For most membership options and stages of the qualification process, the ICE provides:

  1. Start your journey: short introductory sessions to help candidates begin (online, global)
  2. Prepare for success: in-depth guidance to help candidates progress (online, global)
  3. Submit: bespoke local follow-up sessions to support final submissions and applications (online or in-person, local)

These events are repeated throughout the year, allowing members regular opportunities to attend sessions best suited to their current qualification stage.

How can members use the events programme?

As an example, experienced engineers planning to complete a career appraisal on their way to applying for Incorporated or Chartered Engineer could first join Your career appraisal – start the journey.

Then, they could take part in the Your career appraisal – prepare for success session.

Finally, they can then contact their local ICE membership expert for any final support to complete their submission.

This step-by-step planning builds on a successful approach already offered for the ICE’s Professional Review guidance sessions and other events.

It ensures that members are fully supported at every milestone in their journey.

Alongside these live events, the ICE continues to offer a variety of membership guidance materials on its website – from membership and professional qualification guidance recordings to detailed support documents.

An extensive range of assistance for candidates and mentors

The programme aims to help aspiring engineers and those who support them, including supervising civil engineers, delegated engineers and mentors.

Whether candidates are just starting their qualification journey or preparing to sit their Professional Review, the ICE provides support tailored to each stage of the process.

The support also covers the broad range of options for achieving professional qualification.

From apprentices to recent graduates and experienced engineers, events are available that align with their specific situation and progress.
