FAQs
Breakwaters 2027 is an essential international event for coastal and marine engineers, consultants working on coastal engineering projects or anyone connected with the sector. You don’t have to be an ICE member to be a speaker or a delegate at the conference.
The conference will be held at Surgeons Quarter, Edinburgh, on 22-24 September 2027.
Breakwaters 2027 is a paper-led conference. Anyone wishing to present a paper at the event must submit a short abstract for the organising committee to consider for selection. For details about this process, please click the “Abstract submissions” tab.
The ICE has negotiated a special room rate at the main venue. Information on how to obtain this discount will be released shortly, but there are several other accommodation options nearby.
In addition to the main conference programme, there will be a networking dinner and a site visit. Details will be announced on this website in due course.
As a charity, the ICE always tries to minimise the cost of attending its events. Prices will be announced shortly, with discounts available to those working for local authorities, government agencies, NGOs and charities. You’ll also be able to take advantage of special early-bird rates, full details of which will be made available in the next few months.
Becoming a sponsor of, or partner with, the event is an ideal way to connect with attendees from across the civil engineering, coastal and marine sector. Contact Perry James, the ICE’s head of knowledge partnerships, for details.
If you have a query that hasn’t been answered above, please contact the ICE’s knowledge research lead, James Crumly.
