5th ICE/CIWEM Yorkshire and Humber flooding and water quality conference

After four successful years, the fifth Yorkshire and Humber ICE and CIWEM Flooding and Water Quality Conference returns on the 12 November 2026 at Hilton Leeds Central.

With the continuing concerns about climate change, flooding and water quality in the Yorkshire and Humber regions, we will host the fifth annual conference in collaboration with the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

ICE YH Committee member Roger Falconer heads up the conference planning panel and is cultivating an interesting and comprehensive programme for the day, with expert speakers and panelists. He will chair the conference and bring together all key stakeholders engaged in flood risk management and water quality, to discuss a range of solutions to reduce risk, enhance resilience and adapt for future climate change impacts.

The aim is to work together to deliver the best solutions for residents and business communities within the region to reduce the impacts of flooding in the future, with more resilient solutions, adapted for climate change.

Cllr Katie Kimber

Katie Kimber lives in the flood-prone Calder Valley and became a flood warden after her own home was flooded on Boxing Day 2015. Over the past ten years, she has helped her community prepare for flooding and support one another when it happens.

Katie believes that flood resilience starts with informed and connected communities. When people understand the flood risk to their homes, know where to find reliable information and are aware of the practical steps they can take, they are better able to prepare, respond and recover.
