Like many senior engineers, your progression to ICE membership is less about capability and more about the challenge of evidencing your competence clearly and consistently against ICE member attributes.
In support of your journey towards your own professional qualification and ICE membership, this series of workshops aims to kick-start your Career Appraisal submission and, following successful assessment, preparations for your ICE professional review. Each session will require you to complete some preparatory tasks and to undertake follow-up action. By the end of the series you should be ready, or almost ready, to submit your career appraisal application.
The workshops will combine online information sessions with tailored focus on your specific setting Global Capability Centres, meaning you will find it simpler and more straightforward to prepare your successful application.

Session 2: Start your own journey
On-site at your company, August 2026 (refer to your local organiser for exact date and time), delivered jointly by Shivom Revankar from the ICE and senior engineers from your own organisation.
Session 3: ICE member attributes
Online information session: 26/08/2026, 15.30-17.30 IST, delivered by ICE experts Ray Hulse and Shivom Revankar, together with senior, qualified ICE members from the GCC environment.
Session 4: Your ICE member attributes
On-site at your company, August/September 2026 (refer to your local organiser for exact date and time), delivered jointly by Shivom Revankar from the ICE and senior engineers from your own organisation.
Session 5: Prepare your career appraisal report
Online workshop: 16/09/2026, 15.30-17.30 IST, delivered by ICE experts Jenny Illingsworth and Richard Davis.
Session 6: Finalise your submission pack
Online workshop: 29/10/2026, 16.30-17.30 IST, delivered by ICE experts Jenny Illingsworth and Shivom Revankar.

Dr Jenny Illingsworth is the Membership Manager for the Mid England region, South East Asia, South Asia, and Africa at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). In this role, she oversees membership support, guides individuals through professional qualification processes, and manages membership applications. With a background in programme management and business development, she brings extensive experience to her position. She holds a PhD from Durham University and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
She is also the Head of Business and Operations for the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education, where she manages the Centre, communicates its opportunities and successes, oversees effective P&L operations, and supports the development of education programmes, research themes, product development, and innovation for the rail and associated industries.
Additionally, she supports communications and industry engagement with the UK Rail Research & Innovation Network—a 40+ partner strong collaboration between academia and industry.

Ray is responsible for membership support and provides MDO visits and advice for companies and graduates in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire ,Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and parts of Warwickshire.
