Overview

Session 1 of innovation month is an online seminar delivered by Phaneendra Banda and Dennis Sangalang, both principal structural engineers at Arcadis, looking at digital initiatives undertaken by large design and engineering consultancies including data usage, confederated BIM models, and structuring design around BIM. The session will also explore how the design process can be digitalised through the use of automation and parametric design by showcasing some examples undertaken by Arcadis using software such as InfraWorks.

At the end of the presentation, time will be given for any questions by the audience.

This event has been organised by the Early Careers Network London.

Innovation month consists of four sessions presenting innovative solutions shaping the future of the civil engineering industry. Over the month of June, four sessions will take place looking at innovation from different perspectives of various industry experts and leaders.

These sessions will be carried out each week with the following schedule:

  • Session 2: Emerging technology from construction start-ups, Tuesday 11/07/2023 | 18:00 – 19:30 GMT+1
  • Session 3: The design and construction of Crossrail, Monday 17/07/2023 | 18:00 – 19:30 GMT+1

Phaneendra Banda

Phaneendra Banda is a Chartered Engineer with the ICE and holds a master's degree in Transportation Engineering and Management from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore, India.

With over 17 years of expertise, Phaneendra has garnered extensive experience in the intricacies of bridge engineering, along with the management of large and medium-scale infrastructure projects. Commencing his career with Mott MacDonald, he diligently worked on the Bangalore Metro Rail viaducts and underground projects, subsequently joining Arcadis in 2014.

Throughout his tenure at Arcadis, Phaneendra has made significant contributions within the bridges team, with his numerous triumphs as a key member of the company's digital initiatives. Phaneendra is deeply passionate about forging innovative and sustainable solutions that catalyse positive transformation within the industry.
