Overview
Coatings serve to provide corrosion protection, cosmetics and resistance from bacterial and chemical attacks. Many attribute paint failure to poor surface preparation and application when real life experience indicates that faults predominantly arise from other factors.
The presentation will talk through the causes of coating failure based on analysis of work carried out over 20 years by Safinah-group consultants on a range of structures with an emphasis on infrastructure and civil construction (some mention will be made of O&G sector and marine).
The challenges specifications will be discussed and the need to look at the real risk and cost of failure.
