Overview

Please note that these workshops will be held on four separate days.

The Digital Solutions Lab focuses on the practical integration of Artificial Intelligence within modern civil engineering workflows. Participants will explore the tangible shift from theoretical AI concepts to active deployment on-site and in the engineering offices. The event aims to empower construction professionals with hands-on competencies required to navigate the industry’s ongoing digital transformation.

The program begins with an experience-sharing session by a senior industry leader, who will highlight day-to-day work processes and identify critical pain points where technology can intervene. Following this, a dedicated trainer will provide a technical briefing on advanced tools, leading into an interactive, guided exercise. Attendees will break out into small groups to apply AI solutions to real-world scenarios. Each group will have a dedicated facilitator to guide participants through hands-on exercises.

Four modules are currently offered:

  1. Class 1 – 8 July 2026 (Wed)
    •    Project Sponsors & PMOs: Master portfolio tracking and predictive risk
    •    David Ng (Director, Mark Top Development Limited)
  2. Class 2 – 15 July 2026 (Wed)
    •    Design & Planning: Explore generative design and vibe coding
    •    Keith Leung (Associate Director, AECOM) & Jiaxi Li (Solution Consultant, Tech Data Distribution)
  3. Class 3 – 22 July 2026 (Wed)
    •    Site & Delivery: Automate safety monitoring with Computer Vision
    •    Caim Chan (Geotechnical Manager, Dragages)
  4. Class 4 – 29 July 2026 (Wed)
    •    RSS Teams: Digitalise site records using advanced AI-OCR
    •    Simon Leung (FICE, FCIArb, FHKIE, CCBM)

Learning Goals:

  • Understand how to identify and address engineering pain points using specific AI applications.
  • Gain hands-on experience with advanced tools including computer vision, AI-OCR, and generative design.
  • Learn strategies to future-proof professional skills against the digital transformation of the construction sector.

This training is designed for engineering professionals and practitioners eager to move beyond theory and implement functional AI solutions in their daily operations. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to improve project efficiency and safety through technology.
