This challenge is designed to showcase the principles of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) through creativity, engineering, and teamwork.
Working in teams of 2-3 (these can be organised beforehand), participants will design and construct their own miniature SuDS solutions using a variety of materials. Once built, each design will be tested by passing water through the system to assess its ability to slow, store, and filter runoff, replicating the functions of real-world sustainable drainage infrastructure.
This challenge provides an engaging opportunity to learn about sustainable water management, flood resilience, and water quality improvement while developing problem-solving and collaborative skills. Teams will be judged on the effectiveness of their design, filtration performance, innovation, and overall presentation.
