Overview

The Kwu Tung North and Fanling North New Development Area is one of the New Development Areas (NDAs) in the Northern Metropolis. The project covers approximately 320 hectares and comprises site formation works, road improvement and junction works, drainage, sewerage, waterworks, and other engineering works to support housing and development needs. It will provide around 86,200 housing units to accommodate an additional population of approximately 227,000. In addition to housing, the project will also provide commercial, social, recreational, and other facilities for the residents of the NDA.

Through this visit, participants will gain insights into the considerations, merits, and challenges involved in the adoption of S960 high-strength steel in the Lung Yeuk Tau Interchange Footbridge. The programme includes a guided tour of the major engineering works within the Fanling North New Development Area, followed by a guided site walk introducing the Lung Yeuk Tau Interchange Footbridge, which adopts S960 high-strength steel. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the merits and challenges of using S960 high-strength steel.
