Book nowOverview
This site visit offers a practical introduction to a live civil engineering project, highlighting the wide range of roles involved in delivering a large-scale scheme.
Phase 3 of the A4 Portway Park & Ride scheme is being delivered by Taylor Woodrow. The project is reallocating road space to sustainable transport modes with the aim of encouraging greater uptake of bus and rail travel and increased cycling and walking. The civil engineering works include improving bus lanes, crossings and junctions and creating more space for pedestrians and cyclists.
During the guided tour, members of the delivery team will discuss their roles and day-to-day responsibilities with contributions from a civil engineer, a quantity surveyor and a ground operative.
Attendees will have the opportunity to look around the site compound and see some of the plant, materials and resources used in construction, including excavators, kerbing stones and drainage covers. An engineer will also demonstrate setting out a site using surveying equipment.
The site compound is accessible by car, bus and train. Portway Park & Ride has a direct rail connection with Bristol Temple Meads station and bus services from central Bristol.
PPE will be provided but attendees must bring their own steel toe-capped safety boots.
Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
