Book nowThe annual Wales National Flood Conference is organised by the CIWEM Welsh branch in partnership with ICE Cymru and provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about the latest developments in flood risk management in Wales and to network with professionals from across the sector.
In its 23rd year, the conference will explore the themes of “Policy and Betterment in Decision Making”, “Adaptive Catchments and Coastlines” and “Shaping the Future: People, Skill and Resilience”.
Delegates will hear from speakers from the Welsh Government (Llywodraeth Cymru), and Natural Resources Wales (Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru), Welsh Local Government Association and Cardiff University, as well as Ceredigion County Council (Cyngor Sir Ceredigion) the SAB Society Wales and various consultancy partners, including Arup, Binnies, JBA Consulting and Waterco Datrys.
In addition, we will be holding the annual Early Careers Poster Presentation Competition and will presenting the award at the end of the conference.

The Observational Method (OM) can minimise risk and maximise savings in cost, carbon and time. Yet it remains under-used in civil engineering. This lecture explores lessons learnt, current barriers and the OM’s potential to improve future construction practice.
Flooding and water quality is a major challenge across Yorkshire and Humber. This 5th annual conference organised with CIWEM will discuss a range of approaches being used to tackle water quality issues and reduce flood risk in the region.
