At the heart of everything we do in Australia are the five ICE representatives and Local Associations, based in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. They help arrange learned society events, visits to ongoing engineering projects and social activities. They also play a vital role in helping to increase the profile of civil engineering.
There is a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MEA) in place which covers both ICE and Engineers Australia (EA) which may be of interest to members of both institutions. This agreement helps the two organisations form a strategic partnership, share information, and carry out joint events along with other activities. It also helps professionally qualified members apply for the equivalent grade with the other organisation.
As well as the Local Associations, there are several ICE graduate and student groups that support members working towards professional qualification. Professional Review interviews are held annually in Australia, most recently in Sydney and Perth.
Our staff based in Australia support our work in the Australasia region. This includes co-coordinating activities with our members in Australia, supporting our committees and providing membership advice. Staff also support companies running ICE training schemes in the region.
