Associate Member (AMICE)

Associate membership is for professionals working in the built environment who want to improve their knowledge and develop new ways of delivering the infrastructure of the future.

Do you qualify to be an AMICE?

Associate membership is open to professionals, other than civil engineers, working in the built environment.

  • If you are an engineer professionally qualified with one of the bodies on the approved professional engineering bodies list, you will need to provide:
    • Details of your academic qualifications
    • Details of your professional qualification* and a copy of your certificate
  • If you are professionally qualified with one of the bodies on the approved other professional bodies list and work in the built environment, you will need to provide:
    • Details of your academic qualifications
    • Details of your professional qualification* and a copy of your certificate
  • If you are not registered with one of the professional bodies on the above lists and are working in the built environment but not as a civil engineer and have more than five years’ experience you will need to provide:
    • Your CV
    • Details of your academic qualifications (if applicable)
    • Details of your professional qualifications* (if applicable) and a copy of your certificate
    • A 500 word statement highlighting your expertise and why you want to become an AMICE member

*Please note that ICE will contact the professional body that you provide details of to verify your membership/registration.

Please be aware that associate membership does not provide a route to professionally qualified membership of ICE.

AMICE reinstatement

If your AMICE membership has lapsed for less than 3 years (date of lapsing commences from 1 January of the year your membership stopped), you will be required to pay any outstanding fees, before your membership is reinstated. To reinstate your membership, please contact subs at [email protected].

If your AMICE has lapsed for more than 3 years you will be required to make a new application.

AMICE subscriptions

Full price UK membership - £222.50 per year

Full price overseas membership - £166.75 per year

Half-price membership - £111.25 (UK) or £83.00 (overseas) if you are:

Discounted membership of £99 for:

  • Members of the Institution of Royal Engineers (please note that if you are registered with the Engineering Council as EngTech, IEng or CEng then please select the first category on the application form; if you are not registered then please select the third category)

Free for the remainder of the year* for:

  • Those passing the NEC Project management exam
  • Attendees of certain policy events - you will be prompted for a code to enter just before you submit your application. The code will be provided by your event organiser

Please note that this discount is only for the first year and will revert to the half-price rate thereafter.

To take advantage of this discount you must apply within two months of attending the event or passing the NEC Project management exam.

*for applications received after 30 September the offer of free membership will extend into next year.
