Emerald Insight brings together journals, books, case studies and more into a new and improved portal.
Members will benefit from an improved user experience when accessing ICE journals, archives and books as Emerald Publishing launches a new platform.
The new portal, Emerald Insight, replaces the ICE Virtual Library as the home to all ICE Publishing content, which was acquired by Emerald in May 2023.
The platform was introduced on 21 July, with all ICE Virtual Library links being redirected to Emerald Insight.
Please note that due to a delay in the launch of the ICE’s new membership management system, members will temporarily not be able to access the new platform in the usual way.
To use Emerald Insight, please contact the ICE member services team who will provide temporary access to ICE journals as well as other content, such as the Emerald Built Environment and Engineering collections.

Introducing Emerald Insight
Emerald Insight has over 400 journals, 7,000 books, 3,000 case studies, and more, on offer.
Emerald partnered with publishing technology company Silverchair to develop the new platform.
Improvements for users include:
- Personalised content recommendations
- Accessibility (i.e. optimised use of colour, images and graphics)
- Sustainability (through a reduced carbon footprint)
- Real-time metrics like ‘most read’ and ‘most cited’ to aid search
- Split view (helping you analyse figures and tables as you navigate through the article, while keeping references in sight)
Existing profiles from the ICE Virtual Library have been migrated to the new platform and will be available when usual log in resumes in the autumn.
