Before you start

Please make sure you have all the necessary documents before making your application as you cannot save and return to your application.

If you are an engineer professionally qualified with one of the bodies on the approved professional engineering bodies list then you must provide:

  • Details of your academic qualifications
  • Details of your professional qualification and a copy of your certificate

If you are professionally qualified with one of the bodies on the approved other professional bodies list and work in the built environment then you must provide:

  • Details of your academic qualifications
  • Details of your professional qualification and a copy of your certificate

If you are not registered with one of the professional bodies on the above lists and are working in the built environment but not as a civil engineer and have more than five years’ experience you will need to provide:

  • Your CV
  • Details of your academic qualifications (if applicable)
  • Details of your professional qualifications (if applicable) and a copy of your certificate
  • A 500 word statement highlighting your expertise and why you want to become an AMICE member

Do you qualify to be an AMICE?

Associate membership is open to professionals, other than civil engineers, working in the built environment.

  • If you are an engineer professionally qualified with one of the bodies on the approved professional engineering bodies list, you will need to provide:
    • Details of your academic qualifications
    • Details of your professional qualification* and a copy of your certificate
  • If you are professionally qualified with one of the bodies on the approved other professional bodies list and work in the built environment, you will need to provide:
    • Details of your academic qualifications
    • Details of your professional qualification* and a copy of your certificate
  • If you are not registered with one of the professional bodies on the above lists and are working in the built environment but not as a civil engineer and have more than five years’ experience you will need to provide:
    • Your CV
    • Details of your academic qualifications (if applicable)
    • Details of your professional qualifications* (if applicable) and a copy of your certificate
    • A 500 word statement highlighting your expertise and why you want to become an AMICE member

*Please note that ICE will contact the professional body that you provide details of to verify your membership/registration.

Please be aware that associate membership does not provide a route to professionally qualified membership of ICE.
